‘SO FAR’- the 2010 photographic exhibition

The journey of any artist is a personal exploration of the soul and requires a quiet determination and self belief in quest of achieving the sometimes intangible essence of the captured moment; this is certainly the case for self-taught photographic artist Simon Bayliss.

Like a small pebble in his shoe, artistic expression was always a niggling distraction to Simon’s early vocational journey. Having first picked up a camera in 1980, photography had always been an intrinsic part of Simon but for many years it was only a hobby. Progression to professionalism resulted from a ‘if one doesn’t do it now one will never will know’ moment in 2000; the catalyst of which was the pursuit of a lifelong dream to nurture his wanderlust by riding a motorcycle through Europe and investigate his creative soul by developing his photography. 32,000 km, 8 countries and a few thousand photographs later he knew the decision was right.
